Hummus

Hummus
Hummus -  so easy, so quick,  so delicious, and ever so healthy.  This was our assignment this week in French Fridays With Dorie.  To make hummus, you put chickpeas. garlic, lemon juice, cumin, salt, pepper,  and tahini in a food process.  As the ingredients are processing you add some reserved chickpea liquid until the hummus  has a nice thick texture.  That's it.  I told you it was easy.
I served the hummus as an afternoon snack with some pita chips.  It was a hit. The kids loved it.    When my college kid came home in the evening, he  asked if I had any hummus to go with the pita chips.  I proudly told him yes, I made some this morning:)
The hummus will last 3 days in the fridge.
You can find this wonderful recipe on page 19 in "Around My French Table".

  5. I'll bet you were very proud to be able to offer your college student homemade hummus. That's very cute. I've always heard of people making homemade hummus before and I always wondered why bother because it is so easy to buy good stuff at the store. Little did I know that it was SO easy! I will definitely be making the homemade version again.

  14. I hope these kiddos realize how lucky they are to have Mom's who whip up these culinary concoctions :) Regardless, I am also pleased when I am able to tell them what the current "Dorie Food" is and my kids are ALWAYS lining up to try whatever it is. (Not sure if that is because I don't do enough the rest of the week and they are desperate ???)
Great job and I am going to make some more of this healthy, quick and easy dish this week. Before Creme Brulee holiday season hits again.......

  19. Love your hummus Post but I actually came looking for your apple tart. I think your kids must have liked your hummus so much that you re-made that again this week. We all liked the Crispy, Crackly Apple Tart so I hope you give it a try sometime. Missing your Post.
